Why
Why Animals?
Animals need to be cared for regardless of the weather, other events, or whether we feel like it. This is the point. We learn to do the work when you don't feel like it—which, it turns out, is most of the days that matter. We also learn to care for creatures that depend entirely on us for food, shelter, and protection from things that want to eat them. That is the plan anyway.
Why Sell Things?
In this house, we believe: prices are information, markets are discovery, central planning fails because knowledge is distributed, and people who got free granola telling you it's delicious are a distortion that misallocates resources.
A stranger at the farmers market handing over $16 tells you something the hungry sibling never will. It tells you where to put more energy and where to stop wasting it.
Why This Site?
A record of what we've learned, what we've made, and what went sideways.
(The goats. Goats go sideways.)
We're lucky to be surrounded by people who actually know what they're doing and are generous enough to teach us. This is us passing some of it along.
